My window sill - a lovely amaryllis given to me by Brian and Christine for Christmas - this is its second flowering!

Waxwings in Edinburgh

I was up in Edinburgh over Christmas, and took photos of waxwings, who were looking lovely - masses of them, with their jaunty headgear..
In the Botanical Gardens this tree, with the sun on its peeling bark, looked as if it was on fire...

A visit to Pitt Rivers

I can't believe it's been such a long time since I made a blog entry - not since last July - not that anyone has noticed!!!!   I decided to pop into Pitt Rivers museum again, and visit the bits I like best (mainly the gory ones) and it reminded me of the visit from my grandchildren last August.  I had promised them a trip to Pitt Rivers for SO LONG and at last we made it.  And here I am again, looking at the macabre....

and the sublime....
and below, as you can see, back to the macabre.
(I think we all feel like this one sometimes...)

Wittenham Clumps - looking up

closeup of the above, showing wing detail

The red kite was just begging to have its photograph taken.   So I did.   I like the first picture best, where you can see the detail of the pattern on its wings.  Took these, then went home happy.

Wittenham Clumps - looking down

 He loves me....

He loves me not.....

He loves me.....
He definitely loves me not.....

Wittenham Clumps

Looking up at Wittenham Clumps, where the ox-eye daisies are in clover
Looking across the ox-eye daisies at Didcot Power Station.   I walked down here closely past  herd of cows that turned out to be .....not.

Olympic torch

I can honestly say that, if it hadn't been for the fact that the torch was going to be passing literally a few yards from my front door, I wouldn't have bothered....
 Here she comes...
 Here she is....
There she goes....
